Description
Mel-one.PNG

Originally designated as MEL-One Waystation, this antique space station is now Mall-One at Terraluna Way.

History

Originally located at the Moon-Earth Libration point, MEL-One was humanity's first pit-stop on the highway into space. The station has no gravitics in the main areas (for historical accuracy), but instead rotates at one revolution per minute, providing a maximum of 1/3 earth gravity at the outer edge. For crew comfort, there were originally gym and sleep quarters in tether-climbing cars 200 meters below the lowest deck.

In its current configuration, there are small annies providing full gravity to some of the ship's crew quarters. The station's main hull is ring-shaped. Mall-One addressing works like this: first, use a 360-degree coordinate system to find a position around the inner rim. Second, count outward from the rim as you descend from Deck 1 to Deck 20 (noting that for some areas there will be missing decks to account for high ceilings). Finally, work your way parallel to the axis of rotation, moving either north or south from the central plane of the station [[[@http://www.schlockmercenary.com/2010-01-17%7C2010-01-17]]].

MEL-One Waystation was the was the most important location in the colonization of the Sol system for fifty years. Once cheap energy rendered it irrelevant, it spent over 900 years alternating between "ghost town" and "historic landmark". Two years prior to the Massively Parallel storyline, UNS budget cuts allowed the station to be sold to private investors and renamed Mall-One at Terraluna Way [[[@http://www.schlockmercenary.com/2010-01-03%7C2010-01-03]]].
