The mercenaries are hired by UNS Major Timmons (under cover as Lieutenant Timmons of the Marineris D.C. Police) to investigate why the circus is making so much money [[[1]]].

The Barsoom Circus is the stage for most of the sub story in [Parallel Part II: Barsoom Circus Command ] The Circus is mentioned at the beginning of the story, but the characters actually appear at the circus in strip [[[@http://www.schlockmercenary.com:8080/2009-05-24%7C2009-05-24]]] when they meet Ginrin Largo, the stage manager.
